There is so much at stake with marketing a business online today: organizations are expected to be skilled in social media, business management, content strategy, marketing technology, brand presence, competitive analysis, audience engagement, analytics – it can get overwhelming. There is an intersection of marketing, technology and understanding how people publish, engage and contribute. Amazingly, we are still in the teenage years of it all.

Over the course of my professional career, I discovered that my true passion is driving online audiences. Before joining agency life, I was the Audience Development Manager for MaineToday.com for nearly 10 years, recognized nationally as one of the leading interactive programs in the newspaper industry. Recently, I served as the VP of Growth and Engagement for industry-leading websites – Search Engine Land,  Marketing Land and martech.org.

I enjoy training and teaching others about growing audiences online, and have spoken at high-profile events such as SMX, SMX Advanced, Inbound/FutureM, PubCon and Social Media Breakfast since 2008.

This site is a hybrid between a personal and a professional blog. Originally called “Growing Audience” on Blogger in 2006, I decided it was better to start using my own name to manage my own brand early on, and glad I did. Although you’ll find information on digital marketing, you’ll discover that most posts have a personal story attached to them. I’ve always been more of a marketer than a writer, and more of an artist than a marketer. But then again, inspiration and embracing human nature are necessary for all three, it is at least if you want to be interesting.
