About monicawright.com

This site is a hybrid between a personal and professional blog. Originally called “Growing Audience” on Blogger in 2006, I decided it was better to start using my own name to manage my own brand early on, and glad I did. Although you’ll find information on topics such as SEO and marketing, you’ll discover that most posts have a personal story attached to them. I’ve always been more of a marketer than a writer, and more of an artist than a marketer. But then again, inspiration and embracing human nature is necessary for all three, it is at least if you want to be interesting, right?

Experience

As a veteran digital marketer, my experience includes working with national and regional clients in industries such as hi-tech, hospitality & tourism, higher education and retail and packaged goods, including organizations such as Boston University, Vertica, FetchDog.com and World’s Best Cat Litter.

Over the course of my professional career, I discovered that my true passion is driving online audiences. Prior to joining agency life, I was the Audience Development Manager for MaineToday.com for nearly 10 years, recognized nationally at the time as one of the leading interactive programs in the newspaper industry (imagine a time when a CMS didn’t output to print and web, that was us.) I now serve as the VP of Audience Engagement for two of the industry’s leading websites – Search Engine Land and Marketing Land – working with some the smartest and most talented tech writers online today.

Speaking

I enjoy training and teaching others about search visibility and social marketing, and have been fortunate enough to speak at high profile events such as SMX, SMX Advanced, Inbound/FutureM, PubCon and Social Media Breakfast Maine since 2008. Most recently, I have been guiding the Maine Center for Creativity toward a stronger online presence.

Why Search and Social Marketing?

There is so much at stake with marketing a business online today: organizations are expected to be skilled in social media, community development, business management, marketing technology, brand presence, competitive analysis, audience engagement and tracking – it can get overwhelming. And amazingly, we are still at the infancy of technology understanding how people publish, contribute and communicate. I couldn’t be more excited to be working in such a spectacular space.
